Below is a press release regarding the purchase of 125 acres of land in Tradeport East by a national developer. The company's website shows plans for a 1.3 million square foot industrial facility on the property.
Savannah, GA (February 7, 2007) -- IDI, a national full-service real estate development firm, has acquired 125 acres in Liberty County, Ga., from the Liberty County Development Authority (LCDA). The acquired land is located at Tradeport East Business Center, which is 30 miles south of the Port of Savannah and provides direct access to Interstate 95.
With its purchase of land in Liberty County, IDI plans to leverage Savannah's and the surrounding area's growing role as an international port of entry, noted Sean Fitzsimmons, IDI's Director of National Business Development.
With the ability to reach all the major population centers in the Southeastern U.S., including Miami, within a one-day truck drive, Tradeport East is an ideal location for companies looking to consolidate their East Coast import and distribution operations into a single facility or a multiple-facility logistics campus, Fitzsimmons said. At the same time, these users can enjoy the same high-end business park environment that IDI is known to develop nationwide.
IDI will offer companies state-of-the-art distribution space options ranging from 100,000 to more than 1.5 million square feet while also providing substantial trailer parking capacity. In addition, Liberty County offers some of the most aggressive incentives in the Southeast, including ad-valorem tax abatement programs and job-creation tax credits.
LCDA has already attracted two major tenants to Tradeport East Tire Rack recently opened a 242,000-square-foot distribution facility and Target Corp. will open a 1.5-million-square-foot regional distribution center in mid-2007.
Partnering with IDI will bring a new level of expertise and national recognition to Liberty County that we haven't had in the past, said Ronald E. Tolley, CEO of LCDA. We're excited about adding this nationally known private partner to our economic development program.
IDI has entered the Savannah-area industrial market to meet the rising demand for distribution space near the Port of Savannah, where shipments have doubled since 2002. IDI also recently purchased a 187,000-square-foot distribution building at Crossroads Business Center in Savannah and an adjoining 18-acre site, which is currently being marketed to distribution clients.
